Apple could and they would drag this case to court if it wasn't for the Zune. But rumor has it Zune comes in November and the legal battle could go on for 5+ years.
That would give the Zune lots of time to break into the market while Apple and Creative will be fighting for who sues MS. With this settlement both companies will benefit and they can take action as early as Zune hit the market.

I wouldn't be surprised if the iMac and new Mac mini are the replacement for the Mac Pro.
With Thunderbolt, you will be able to connect the new iMac or Mac mini of them to Fibre Channel arrays, have three displays or use external PCI chassis for existing PCIe cards. iMac CPU performance with the desktop Sandy Bridge CPUs will exceed most Mac Pro configurations. Does being new here mean that I have to learn how a corporation that just recorded at record net income of $5.23 billion is "DEAD"? If so, please enlighten me.
I have worked in finance for 35 years and only hold a Bachelors degree in Buisiness, but I'm sure from your response that you (and others here) know more about business than me. Regardless of how you feel about Oprah she does have some clout. She actually got adults to read (remember her book club). In addition she could get lots of her watchers to buy a song on itunes simply by mentioning it on her show. And don't forget that iTunes also sells audiobooks.
One mention on Oprah about how if you buy this song/audiobook in the next week and 10% will go for the AIDS cause could be good for Apple/iTunes.
One last thought....
Oprah + Nike + iTunes (Apple) = lots of Oprah viewers downloading suggested files and then exercising.

That makes no sense. Why wouldn't it just download straight to the computer in the first place? That's where it's stored, that's where it's streamed from. You just added an extra step and made it that much more complicated.

The average Joe is not the customer for iTV. Average Joe might buy a $40 DVD player from Walmart to hook up to a $200 TV. Remember, the iTV is meant for a HDTV. In fact you cannot even easily hook it up to a non-HDTV. It has only HDMI and component video outputs. These outputs are found only on HDTVs.
Actually, my old sony 27" CRT was a standard def TV and it had component inputs, and that was 5 years ago. Coupled with my sony progressive scan DVD player with component outputs, and was able to watch proper anamorphic video on my standard def TV. At that time that was the main selling point for me getting that TV. Searching around just now, I found quite a few standard def TV's that have component inputs.
Of course, I have an HDTV now, but for what it was, that 27" was a great tv with component inputs.

Hayes has issues... He stuck with the show and helped Matt and Trey and the folks at Commedy Central poke fun at every race and religion... And then came the Scientologists turn to get made fun of. Hayes, being a Scientologist, didn't agree with that (even though it's OK with him to defile every other religion), so he announced he was leaving the show.
Oh, and the Mr. & Mrs. Tennorman chili was classic. Cartman rules. ;)

but i thought half the point of TB was that you would only need one output from the computer, and since we don't have any TB displays (or anything for that matter) how do we know that the ports are limited to one display?Displays are at the end of the chain. I believe there is a passthrough for additional displays as well.
You do want additional outputs to avoid the annoyance of unplugging displays. This will be more of an issue on the Mac mini and Mac Pro. I can imagine instances where the displays might not come back at all.

I don't see the connection between overclocking and childishness. Overclocking is done by enthusiasts and power users of all ages. There is nothing wrong with it, and the practice should not be stigmatized.
There is no connection , just ignorant people who can't handle the fact that someone just saved alot of money buying a lower end cpu and overclocking it to a point where it stomps their $999 cpu. I would never spend over $350 for a CPU or Video Card.

Idiots. Someone taking the trouble to be more aware of their situation is probably cold sober. More information is likely to prevent more dangerous behavior than it causes. At worst...what? Eh....While I make a terrible liberal because I believe gun control isn't a big issue, there IS such a thing as a lost cause, and that people usually get what they deserve.... I also make a terrible conservative in that I don't think a mall cop should be carrying a ****ing firearm, nor should he be going for a killing shot- shoulder/leg at MOST. And anyway, from the sound of it, they weren't even in the store yet- they were still in the process of breaking in. REAL police are hesitant to fire upon a fleeing suspect, why the **** is a mall cop shooting people in the head who are running away without any stolen property? Answer: Because he's not a real police officer and he shouldn't be carrying a ****ing firearm. Sounds like this will be hitting the courtrooms.

They've updated the post since I posted that...The suspects were armed and firing, so I retract the bit about shooting a fleeing suspect. I'm still not comfortable with a mall cop carrying lethal force....there are plenty of less-than-lethal options out there.

Airfoil still needs the Airfoil installed on your computer to work, it won't run with just the iOS apps. I think pika2000 is asking about iOS apps that emulate an airport express, so that you could send the same audio to every device in your house.
Well, you CAN send the same audio to every device in your house, as long as the audio originates on your Mac (which includes simply plugging in any iOS device or iPod into your Mac).

How do you figure this is an awesome design? This is a brainless design! Designing the nano in the first place might have been awesome. But making a nano a phone is hardly a leap of design genius!

whether you like it or not, chocolate phone is one of the hottest phone in KOREA, the cell phone dynasty. and you have to note that chocolate in Korea and the chocolate in US sport two different designs.
and about that iChat Mobile....that phone is very practical but it might be way too big. and if they shrink the size, the keypad might be too small.

This may have been asked and answered before, but is the common belief that USB and Firewire will be completely gone soon? For example, my Macbook Air has room for only two ports - a mini-display drive, and a USB drive. Is the idea that the Thunderbolt drive will replace the USB, and that purchasers of the new Air will use an adapter of some sort for "old" USB peripherals moving forward?
If Apple has this expectation, they had better at least sell an appropriate adapter/hub. I've long thought a thin, form-matching hub that connects to all of the ports on one side of an Apple portable would be a great idea. If Apple can make a 2- or even 3-port USB hub off of the Thunderbolt port (especially if a Mini Display-Port is also available) for ~$50, that would be golden for this type of MBA plan.

Even at that level it's a real PITA. Seriously, not only it pops up way too often, but it slows down installations. Some older computers and netbooks just freeze for several minutes after trying to open large installers, while UAC is analyzing or something.
Regarding the first point, that's not true at all. There's no reason you should be seeing it in normal use on a day to day basis. It's the same as in OS X. Regarding the latter...I haven't had that happen, but I did see on GOG.com they mentioned that it can take a while with large installers on some systems with that on.
