By getting press coverage, by being ejected, they have got what they wanted: To raise awareness of their cause.

In addition, the british press just LOVE to bring down a sucessful person/product/brand... brace yourselves for a lot of anti-apple press, now everyone knows how un-green apple are.

I was there today, and was offered a leaflet, and an organic apple, on leaving olympia tube station. They do have a valid point...

It hurt when I saw my work arrange for a broken tangerine iMac to be taken to the tip, when Dell came personally to take their broken PC...

I love apple, they could do more than simply offer to recycle their PACKAGING! Finish the job Apple. (We pay enough for the privelige)

Edit: Apple can you also put a spell check into Safari please :)

    Don't despair.

An Apple Patent May Hint at a Mini Tower Desktop...
    http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2010/04/an-apple-patent-may-hint-at-a-mini-tower-desktop-with-usb-30.html

    Image (http://www.patentlyapple.com/.a/6a0120a5580826970c01347fbb924f970c-pi)

I would love that. And I know there are many others who have been asking for a consumer level headless mac desktop. However, I don't know if that contingent of people is big enough (read: lucrative enough) to sway apple's attention. :(

It doesn't need to be a virus. They're relatively rare issues these days even on Windows. Malware is about stealing identities (big money) not hackers playing games with machines
Identity theft is not malware and it's not targeted at just Mac or Windows. It can be done without using computers at all. There is no antivirus software that can protect a computer from the user's own stupidity or gullibility.

For those freaking out, do they know that every GPS devices record their positions from the moment they are first turned on ?

It is scary, but unfortunately it's quite common.
In the best of cases (in the GPS world) the information is encrypted... But this only happens with a few GPS, usually those made for high-end auto brands (Porsche, BMW etc.) the majority of devices, on the other side, records the information in plain text.

Hmm didn't Apple release the 17" MacBook Pro at NAB earlier this year.

Right, the invitation didn't have a bit Aperture logo on it, either. ;)

Apple noted (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/01/apple-defends-against-microsoft-in-app-store-trademark-dispute/) in a prior filing that it had moved to protect its trademark by reaching out to companies it believed was using the "App Store" name improperly, but Microsoft argues that the simple fact that those companies were using the term in the first place indicates that the term is generic.

WOW! That's quite the argument Microsoft's putting forward. If that's true, they're arguing against the entire trademark system! Using someone else's trademark causes it to be generic and no longer a trademark?

    Good luck with that one.

Weren't they just updated in October? Yes it may be closer, but not for a while yet considering the last update was over a year.

Honestly, can you try to post without arguing against claims I never made? That is at least 3 times now and it shows a lack of honesty or reading ability. I am not sure which.
    The above text contains:
Strawman argument/claiming what I said wasn't true without providing any proof/Insults

I never said it was going to Mac only (though you have accused me of that twice). I agreed with the insinuation that it could be. I never said manufacturers would have to add it separately. I did say that the article you posted said only that it would be available to all and that it didn't say all would add it. Mainly, I said that, because you know, the article doesn't actually say that. Here's another recap for you:
Person 1: Thunderbolt = Mac Only
    You: Bingo
Me: Post to an article showing that it won't be Mac only
You: Claim you were talking metaphorically to save your ass
Myself and Econgeek: Explain to you why what you saved your ass with won't be true
You: Go on a rampage of insults

I think we are done. No point in debating someone that doesn't understand what he is reading and also makes up things to reply to. Arguing against someone that uses strawman arguments or misses common subtleties in language is bad enough. Arguing against someone that is making up things to argue against is pointless.Pot, meet kettle.

A lot of people have more than 5GB in their music collection, so for these people the Amazon service doesn't work.

Purchase an MP3 album from the Amazon MP3 Store by 11:59 PM PST on December 31, 2011.

    * If you qualify for this offer and either have not signed up for Amazon Cloud Drive or have the 5GB Amazon Cloud Drive plan, you will be automatically eligible for the 20 GB plan for one year from the date of your MP3 album purchase. Unless you set your account to auto-renew to a paid plan, the 20 GB plan will revert to a free plan one year from the date of your MP3 album purchase.

    * If your Amazon Cloud Drive account is already at 20 GB or higher when you qualify for this offer, the offer will be saved to your account as a $20 credit toward any future Amazon Cloud Drive plan fees you may incur at the time your plan renews or at the time you upgrade your plan. If you elect to downgrade your plan to a free plan at the time of renewal, your upgrade offer will be applied towards the 20 GB plan at that time.

MP3 albumes start at just 69 cents

Yeah, I said Thunderbolt would take over the world when I said that USB and Thunderbolt were complimentary. Thunderbolt for high bandwidth, USB for low bandwidth.

Yeah, super complex high speed adapters that we've seen done time and time again in an affordable manner.

Glad you're done arguing. Clearly you only had two points to try and refute and it would be embarrassing for you to just leave the rest of my previous post with no replies.

I suppose it depends on practicalities and average user needs.

We know, in general, these days especially, Apple is aiming at the large non techie market. This area I cannot really see benefiting from Thunderbolt.

Myself, I love the latest spec, and would be happy to have thunderbolt.

It all depends on prices, and need for the speed. If most devices for most people don't need the speed, then I guess it won't be fitted, and it will remain a high end niche system.

For me, sure yes, let's fit it on everything. I just doubt in reality it's going to happen, and if it does remain high end only then is there much point in fitting it to mass market devices for the average joe in the street?

Is this a true statement from the OP: "But with new Sandy Bridge processors from Intel sporting improved graphics performance"

Improved when compared to the old Intel Integrated Graphics.

then why did apple cripple the 13" macbook pro's with ****** resolution then?

The resolution stayed the same on the 13" Pro. The 13" Air has a higher resolution, but perhaps that's to preserve a selling point. I don't think the Sandy Bridge IGP would have any difficulty driving the 1440x900 display.

I'm glad they were ejected. Green Peace is a joke anyway. Very few poeple take them seriously. The envitonmentalist movement is a joke as well. Nothing but a collection of displaced communists.

Nor does having a 2400 SAT score and confusing "their" with "there", along with various other errors in his writing - which even for a forum are somewhat unacceptable lol.

Still, it's kinda scary that someone with this kind of mindset is allowed to drive. Under no circumstances should you ever even think of running someone off the road.

There may be lots of TV options out there, but right now Apple isn't servicing any of them. They're losing potential business to 3rd Party companies like Elgato. If they released a simple box with analog/digital standard/hidef options, they would be servicing the overwhelming majority of the market (most digital, satelite and other special services require set-top boxes anyway).I don't see anything wrong with letting Third Party developers pick up the slack where Apple is not delivering. EyeTV is a pretty good product for people who want PVR fundationality on their Macs. Sure, it'd be great if Apple did something innovative in this arena, but for a simple PVR, EyeTV does the job.
